I hate being sick

I don't know how I managed this but...I have a cold.

I only got about 6 hours of sleep Friday night, and Saturday night I got about 5 1/2 hours.  Sunday night I slept for about 8 hours.  Yesterday I woke up LATE, realized I'd slept 10 hours, and then took a 4 hour nap later on.  That's 14 hours of sleep. I NEVER do that, and I really love sleep.  My nose was also running a lot, so I figured I had allergies.  Well, then my throat started hurting and my dad decided it was probably a cold.  I tend to get sick after not getting much sleep. Yay! I took Daytime cold medicine, and it seemed to help.

I slept about 10 hours last night, and I'm probably going to nap a lot today.  I just have NO energy.  It's draining me typing this, actually.

I don't even know where I picked up a cold...no one was sick this weekend.  Ugh.

I get a new cold every 3-4 months, it seems.  This year has been the WORST in terms of getting colds/the flu.  I had a cold in September, the stomach flu in December, and a crazy awful cold in February.  Yuck.

I'm also a baby when I'm sick.  I'm grumpy and I hurt and I can't deal with people.  My daddy is the best at taking care of me...he brings me water, medicine, and food.  It's wonderful.

Anyway...I just typed this up to explain why I'm slacking on posting Saturday's recap (not that anyone really cares).

I'm leaving Saturday for the lake...I will be so mad if I'm not on the mend by then.  I should feel better by tomorrow, but colds are sneaky and mean so who knows.

"Lick it...stick it." (the bachelorette party!)

Hello!

I've been semi-busy the past week.  I went out to eat with Savannah and Whitley last Wednesday; we went to Panera (where they did not have a bread bowl to go with my soup, woe) and then Orange Leaf.  It was my first visit to Orange Leaf, and it was just as yummy as everyone says.  Thursday night I went out to BD's with Whitley and George, and then we made a spontaneous trip to Meijer's so that I could buy some tissue paper and contact solution (and face wash...which I didn't exactly need).  Then we went back to George's to watch American Idol, which I never ever watch.  I mostly made comments about the people and asked questions and George was very bitter because his favorite girl went home.

Friday afternoon began the Weekend of the Wedding.  This weekend had so many high points, and some low points which were very stressful.  Amanda was the perfect bride, and never once yelled or snapped at anyone.  She was so calm.  I was not, hahaha.  I'll be a wreck whenever I get married.

I had planned Amanda's bachelorette party for that night (and it was VERY stressful, believe me.  It took so long to plan what we were doing and where we were going.  I hate being in charge...), and one of the bridesmaids picked me up in Lexington so we could carpool to Cincinnati.  We actually got to the hotel around 5, but we had to wait for Rudy, another bridesmaid, to show up with all the party supplies.  Amanda got there at the same time as Rudy, so I kept her downstairs, talking (and venting about the many things stressing her out about the wedding, poor girl), until they were finished getting everything set up.  Lyndsay, another bridesmaid, came up shortly after 6 also.  The room looked fantastic, and we had lots of cute bachelorette decorations and food.

The night got interesting, very quickly.  I had seen that there was a placed called Bar Seventy-one nearby...it sounded classy and fun on Google.  You might not be as naive as me, so you're thinking...um, that sounds like a BAR.  Well, I thought maybe it wasn't really a BAR but more like a bar and grill or something.  We piled in the car, in our dresses and party hats, and we finally find the place.  It looks kind of shady from the outside, but we go inside anyway (after walking by a group of people on the patio, clapping and yelling "HAPPY BIRTHDAY", hahaha).  It's dark and empty, and a creepy older man asks for our ids immediately. I find this odd, but we all take them out (including Lyndsay, who is underage).  He asked her if she was just going to hang out for a while, then leave. WHAT?! I did not understand.  We told him we'd find our own seats...and Amanda did not seem very enthusiastic about eating there.  The waitress gave us no menus, but asked what we wanted to drink...are we alcoholics or something? Weird.  Rudy is like "We weren't sure what this place was...do you know any other places to get good food?" and the waitress gets VERY snippy and says "We serve food.  I'm not sure about other places, but this place is good." So I ask Amanda if she wants to stay, and she said she didn't want to stay.  So Rudy handed our menus to the rude waitress, and we left.  Awkward....

We decided to go to Carabba's instead, which was conveniently located right across from our hotel.  We get inside, and get seated.  We were STARVING, so we immediately find what we're going to get.  Our waiter was the nicest man alive, he gave me free soup because I didn't order a salad.  Kim kept making her food into a penis and balls.  The waiter told us that he didn't believe that one of us was really getting married because we didn't look old enough.  After we ate our dinner, he brought us dessert for free.  Best waiter EVER.  He also didn't charge Amanda or Rudy for pink lemonade.

Hilarious: As we were walking back to the "limo" aka Kim's parents van, we realized the door was WIDE OPEN.  It had been open for over an hour! There were 2 bridesmaids dresses in the van, as well as a GPS.  NOTHING WAS STOLEN.  Also, her battery wasn't dead. WHAT A MIRACLE.  We had a good laugh over that...

We went back to the hotel (we aren't wild and crazy, so bars and clubs weren't really our idea of fun) and took ridiculous pictures...are you ready for this craziness? HERE WE GO-

Rudy and Amanda

on top: Lyndsay and Amanda
on bottom: me, Kim, and Rudy

Lyndsay and Amanda, Kim and Rudy...

...I don't even know.  Hahaha

Then the real fun began...Amanda opened her presents.  My presents were pretty tame, and they progressively got more scandalous.  Rudy gave her sexy undies and whipped cream from VS, and Kim...well, she gave her a fetish gift (total gag gift, people), some novelty pills as jokes, a memory book (which we used for quotes and souvenirs of the night, haha), and well--a sucker shaped like a part of the male anatomy.  Yup.  Plus a glow in the dark condom...wow.

What happened next we will not speak of, hahaha.  It's okay though, it was a bachelorette party and at least we weren't out in public making fools of ourselves.  Well, actually we did go out to get board games around 10 in our pjs, wearing our masks, but at least we weren't drunk and slutty and idiots.  :) I have some hilarious pictures, but what happens in Best Western room 232 stays there.

Lyndsay had to leave for the night, and Rudy decided to head home around midnight...after we played a competitive game of Taboo and a calmer game of Imaginiff.

All in all, I think it was quite a fun, entertaining, slightly scandalous night for everyone who came.

Saturday outings and rehearsal dinner recap coming tomorrow (unless I am feeling too lazy, which is likely, hahaha).  Then THE WEDDING DAY.  :)

Someone turned 2 today...

2 years ago on May 13, my beautiful niece Lily June was born.  She was so pretty...tiny everywhere, petite features, dark hair.  She was a light in my life from the moment she was born.  I am so blessed to have a niece like her.  She is sweet, sassy, silly, and absolutely a little princess.

Aunt Kasi and Lily...our first picture together.  Father's Day, 2009.

Aunt Kasi and Lily at Uncle Ben's wedding.  This is framed in my room. :) She's so pretty.

I love this Lily face.

Lily trying to walk with Papaw.

She's got the Peel nose...it's so cute when you're a baby.

She's so pretty.

Favorite picture of us EVER.

Us after a snack :) (I am gross, but I do like this picture)

Spring 2010

This was taken at Ryan's 3rd birthday party last June.

Hahahaha, this is a classic.

Random picture taken on the Treadmill...

She has crazy, beautiful hair.  I love it.

Lily June, I am truly blessed to be a part of your life.  You make everyone smile, and everyone who meets you loves you.  You have such a strong spirit.  You are already a little princess, a diva, and you want what you want when you want it.  I love that we have similar temperaments.  It makes me happy, because I love it in you...while others may think it's us being "difficult", I love how strong you are (I am not strong, but I'm so glad you are).  You have such a distinct personality, and I can't wait to see it grow and grow as you get older.  Happy 2nd birthday, sweet girl.  I miss you everyday.  Love you like crazy.
Love,
Aunt Kasi

I never knew I could feel that much, and that's the way I loved you.

This was written yesterday, but my blog wasn't working so I couldn't post it...

1.  I made dough for pizza today! It was kind of an ordeal, to be honest.  I waited until Alice had eaten most of her quesadilla, then I started getting the ingredients together.  I couldn’t get the sea salt lid off, so I had to just grind it in my hand and put it in the teaspoon holder...it took forever and I got salf all over everything.  The bread flour exploded all over the floor, so I had to use a baby wipe to clean it up.  Alice pooped while I was in the middle of getting the ingredients together in the bread pan.  Then I pushed the wrong button the bread machine and it wouldn’t work.  :( I break machines.  It’s bad.  So I just had to knead the bread myself-which I have never done before.  Alice was upset about this, because Kelly left her to study and I couldn’t pick her up.  Wow.
    2. Kelly made the pizza though.  It was delicious! She added garlic to it, and we had barbeque and alfredo pizza.  :) I had about 5 pieces (they were small though...smaller than CiCi’s slices) they were so yummy. I told her if she ever drops out of med school, she can open up a pizza shop.  I’d eat there lots.
      3. I realized today I’m a very paranoid person.  I’m planning a bachelorette party for Amanda, and I decided to get a hotel room...well I was planning on getting 2 because we have 6 girls coming.  She was like “Just get one, they won’t even know...” but I told her I was scared.  I don’t want to get caught or yelled at! It’s a fear of mine.  Butttt I’m going to just bite the bullet and get one room.  Also, Kelly asked if I had prime shipping for Amazon since I have a student email.  I told her I was going to do it, but since I’m not a student anymore I felt guilty signing up.  I’m also terrified I’d get caught for fraud.  Does anyone else think like this? I’m paranoid.  Note: I did sign up today for Prime shipping.  It’s awesome.  I’m researching Alice books to buy at this moment, and I have a surprise for my mom (for mother’s day, i’m a bad daughter) in my cart. :)
        4. It’s my niece’s birthday tomorrow! She’ll be 2.  I bought her a card today! Of course I will post a tribute on here tomorrow. :)
        5. Alice and I have been on a 1.25 mile walk 3 days this week! Even though it’s abnormally hot and humid, I still managed.  I went around 9:15 this morning, before it became unbearable.  Ugh.  It was still sticky and muggy, but it wasn’t terrible.
          6. I’m off for 2 weeks starting tomorrow afternoon! This is exciting because I REALLY need to get job stuff done, and I have the bachelorette party and wedding to attend.  Plus I miss my friends and Rachel will be back in town.
          7. Saturday I’m going to graduation with Savannah.  Kelliott and Alice will be there as well.  Amanda and Ron are graduating! I love graduations...even though they are long and sometimes boring.  I love getting dressed up too, unless I feel really fat.

          8. I’ve been nostalgic about how I haven’t taught in almost 5 months.  :( I miss my students.  I am a teacher at heart, and I need to be teaching children. I love watching Alice and taking care of a little one, but I know that I’m meant to be teaching children.  It’s what I’m passionate about, I love spending time planning activities that I think they will love, I can’t wait until I have my own group of students to work with daily or an entire classroom of my own students and I will worry about them, encourage them, tell them they are wonderful, teach them manners and facts and observations and how to be a good citizen, and they will then leave me to go on to have a bright future.  Ugh, I want to be in a school so badly.
            9. The store where I worked for FIVE YEARS is closing.  It might already be closed, I’m not sure.  :( It is so depressing.  I had great coworkers who are know my friends (Sweaty Todd and Cory, and Maddie and Parker even though I was friends with them before DZ), I had awful coworkers who I gossiped about, and I had many good moments while there.  I also had BAD moments with customers, times where I couldn’t unload merchandise, times where I really just wanted to quit, but I loved it too.  I loved inside jokes with my coworkers, how JD hated glitter and we’d buy him cards and put glitter inside, the pimp canes we always got in, the ridiculous merchandise that no one in their right mind would buy and we’d giggled when someone DID buy it, the weird Tong Dance that Parker did to Gettin’ Jiggy With It, and how every time it would storm Cory and I would be working and the lights would go out.  I had crushes, I worried that others had crushes on me (not recipracated), and I grew up a lot there.  It was my first real job, because babysitting is a job but wasn’t regular.  It was a great experience, overall.  I will always miss that place.  The people were interesting, and hilarious, and some of them were awesome.

            Today:

I had a nice visit with Rachel this morning :) I got exciting news that I'll share later...I'm very happy about it.

I used my mom's Zumba Wii game this evening....about 30 minutes on the beginner level. :) It was TOUGH.  It was also fun, and I think I'm gonna be VERY sore tomorrow.  I plan on doing it at least 20 minutes a day...it should be a good workout and I just want to get a bit fitter.  It is almost bathing suit season, and the wedding is so soon!

I booked the hotel room for next Friday! I am getting pretty pumped about next weekend...I am still nervous about the speech though.  Eeeeek.

Amanda's Breakfast at Tiffany's bridal shower

            Finally bridal shower pictures! Woohoo!
All the stress was worth it, because Amanda had a great time at her shower (or so she told me, haha).  She'll be married in 10 days...that's so crazy to think about.  I meet her about 7 months before she even met Ron, her fiance.  It has been so interesting and cute to see their entire relationship from the beginning.

These pictures from the bridal shower were taken by the lovely and talented Nikki Murphy, a fellow bridesmaid.  She is a wonderful photographer, and if you're looking for someone to take pictures, think about asking her.  She's super creative, very sweet, and EXTREMELY talented.  :) Thanks Nikki for letting me use your photos!

Bridal shower theme: Breakfast at Tiffany's.  It's a favorite of mine, so this was a BLAST to plan.  Audrey is timeless.

The gift table, with a vase of beautiful flowers from our yard, and balloons.

The food...or some of it, anyway.  I made sandwiches, there was fruit and choc dip, veggies and dip, chips and salsa, cheese cubes...

The BIG Surprise! A DIAMOND RING CAKE!! I had been thinking about doing this for a while, and the theme fit perfectly for it.  Rebecca helped me make the cakes, then my dad helped trim and ice the cake.  I was so proud!

Amanda and her maid of honor, aka ME! I love this picture of us :)

I bought a picture frame from Target, took out the matting, and everyone signed it.  It's such a great keepsake idea! We took pictures of all of us, so she can order one and put it in the frame and remember it forever.  <3

Yes, I did make everyone play the toilet paper wedding dress game.  I think they all had a good time, haha.  I think my dress is simply divine ;D

Amanda and her special glass that says "BRIDE TO BE" on it, hahaha.  I try to be crafty, sometimes.  She humored me and told me it was pretty.  Oh, I also made sure to have pink lemonade (her fave drink), and it was such a hit! It was all gone by the end of the shower.

I actually like this picture of me.  See, Nikki is wonderful!

After games (trivia and wedding dress game) Amanda opened her gifts.  She got LOTS of picture frames, random things for her house, clothes, and this beautiful scrapbook.

I found blingin' diamond rings for everyone! Diamonds are a girl's best friend, after all.  We're classy.

            We're fabulous. Be jealous.

            Miss Audrey herself :)

"Make a crazy face" picture...I look awesome.

We all look so cute.  :)

Amanda and the lovely Nikki! Such pretty ladies.

We had a fantastic day of fun! So happy that she's getting married! <3

            Tuesday, May 10, 2011

When the baby sleeps, I watch a lot of Greek episodes.

Alice was EXTREMELY tired today, for some reason.  She took a nap around 8:15, slept until 10:20, played, we went on a walk, she ate and took a bath, and then took another nap around 1.  She slept until 3ish.  That is UNHEARD of, unless she is sick.  Wow.  Later, we ate dinner and she went BACK to sleep around 6:30 and slept until 8:30 without waking up.  She slept off and on from about 8:45 until 9:30.

While she napped, I couldn't really get on my computer because it was in the room with her (and I try to avoid going in there while she's napping so she won't wake up and start crying) and I was bored with my phone, so I watched lots and lots of things on Netflix.  3 episodes of Greek (SO close to the end! I have 1 1/2 "volumes" left!), the 1st ep of Scrubs (and my first ep of Scrubs EVER! It was...okay.  I didn't find it that funny, so I'm obviously strange.), The Last Song (STUPID and PREDICTABLE! It was like a mix of A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and Andie's life from Dawson's Creek...but with a less attractive male lead, sea turtles, and it was set in Georgia...), and a tiny bit of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.  Hahahaha.

It is abnormally hot in KY and it's driving me bonkers.  I like to walk with Alice, and it's really annoying when I go on walks in MAY and it's already so humid and warm that I have sweat pouring down my back, stomach, legs, and forehead.  Ewww.  I HATE SWEATING.  It's just too early for this ridiculously warm weather.  I don't live in the South for a REASON, and that is because it is warm and humid.  It's supposed to be 90 tomorrow, so I think we'll enjoy music class (i hope they have the AC on there), then we'll come back to take a nap and enjoy lunch, andddd then we will migrate to the zoo where there is a splash park area!

Okay, I'm done with this because I'm sleeeeepy.  Bridal shower pictures/recap coming soon, I promise! The wedding is in 11 days, so I really need to get that finished before then, hahahaha. I fail.

PS-I love the word bonkers.  It's kind of zany and just FUN.  BONKERS!! Wasn't there a cartoon character named Bonkers? I feel like I thought he was annoying though.

            Monday, May 9, 2011

They've got catfish on the table, they've got gospel in the air.

I just realized I said i was 25 in my last post.  Hahahaha...what kind of woman adds a year to her age? I do.   That's so sad.

I'm back at Kelliott's after a week break.  Anddd I went to Memphis! My best friend Rachel graduated from graduate school.  :)  Also, she lives on the island that's right beside the Mississippi and it's flooding.  Good times.  Luckily, we didn't have to evacuate.  I have pictures! They are all stolen from Rebecca...

We left Friday morning...I rode with Rachel's mom, grandma, and sister Rebecca.  We stopped at Wendy's to eat, and made it to Memphis before 5 pm.  We ate at Soul Fish Cafe in Memphis, and afterward went to see this crazy cat shelter store that had like 100 cats just chilling everywhere.  It was amazing.  Then we hung out and waited around until 10 when we had to pick up Brett from the airport.

Rebecca and me on the way to Memphis...very flattering, haha.

Me, Rebecca, and Rachel at Soul Fish Cafe...they had the most amazing food. Mmm.

Me, Rebecca, and Rachel! We're going to see NKOTB and BSB this July!! So excited.

            Rebecca, me, and Rachel.

Then we woke up early on Saturday morning, got ready, and went to this center in downtown Memphis for her small graduation ceremony.  It only lasted about an hour, and was one of the best graduation ceremonies I've been to.  :)  I'm so proud of her! She is so smart and talented.

Best friends for over 20 years!

Brett and Rachel, my favorite couple EVER. They are adorable.

Brett, Rach, Kasi. :) This picture makes me smile.

After graduation, there was a reception at the Speech Pathology building where she had all her classes...it was nice.  We ate food, had cake, and then there was a slideshow for the students.  They are so close.  I wish I had that kind of relationship with school friends.

We went to Beale Street for a while, peed at the Peabody Hotel, and then went back to her apartment.  We watched some Saved by the Bell episodes, then a few Big Bang Theory episodes, and got ready to go out to eat.

Rachel and me by the (rising) Mississippi River.

Rebecca and me, haha.  Love her!

Rebecca, Brett, Rach, me...the 4 amigos.

Our feet...this was actually Brett's idea (as a joke).  Hahaha

Rebecca and me at Paulette's...Rebecca wanted us to hold our glasses.  She's so silly.

We ate at Paulette's, which had the most amazing Sicilian Chicken.  Afterward, we decided to go see Something Borrowed around 7.  It was pretty good...although a bit more scandalous than I thought it would be.  We went home and basically just talked about wedding stuff and Rebecca shopped for dresses, haha.

Sunday Brett had an early flight, we got ready, and then went out to brunch at Blue Plate Cafe.  It was delicious...I got a big waffle.  I love waffles! :) Then we took pictures in the park, then packed everything up and hit the road.  We stopped at Chili's about an hour from home.  Overall, it was an excellent trip and I'm so glad that I went to see my bestest graduate.  I would have regretted it always if I had missed it.  I'm so proud of her, she is wonderful and so smart and passionate about her profession.  She will be an excellent speech pathologist.  I'm so blessed that she's my friend.
